Potential benefits of a home equity line of credit — subject to eligibility and lender approval.
A HELOC may let you access equity without refinancing your existing first mortgage — so you may keep a rate you already love.
A revolving line lets you draw funds during the draw period and reuse available credit as you repay — similar to a credit card.
Common uses include home improvements, debt consolidation, or major expenses — subject to lender terms and your eligibility.
You typically pay interest on the outstanding balance you draw, not the full credit limit — though rates are generally variable.

A HELOC is a revolving line of credit secured by your home. It typically has a draw period, during which you can borrow and repay repeatedly, followed by a repayment period, during which you can no longer draw and repay the outstanding balance.
HELOCs generally have variable rates, meaning your rate — and your payments — can change over time. Fees may apply, and because your home secures the loan, failure to repay can lead to foreclosure.
A HELOC lets you borrow revolving funds as needed. A home equity loan provides a lump sum with fixed repayment. A cash-out refinance replaces your existing first mortgage with a new, larger loan — which a HELOC may let you avoid.
Each option has different rate, payment, cost, and risk trade-offs. There is no single best choice for everyone.
